Number 65

Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, The Westminster Boating Base has raised £18,000 to help it survive the Coronavirus hibernation 🙂

Thank you to everyone who supported the WBB by contributing to the crowdfunder. Each person that pledged a minimum of £10 was entered into a draw. The names were ordered alphabetically and numbered. The names and numbers can be viewed on the Westminster Boating Base website.

On facebook live I used a phone app to randomly select a number and the winning number was no. 65.

Well done no. 65

It was 2017 when I began photographing the Thames from source to sea from a kayak. Having been paddling on the central London River Thames for over twenty years I felt it was time to explore the rest of this intriguing river. The kayak often gives me a very different perspective of the river to that seen from the banks. I can get into nooks and crannies not otherwise accessible to photograph from underneath pontoons, between houseboats, and get close to river furniture and wildlife.

For many years, I worked as a professional photographer, photographing wild places and urban spaces for editorial and corporate clients.

During the pandemic, I began drawing again, something I hadn’t done much of since leaving art school, where I did a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration (BA Hons) at Kingston University. I am now an abstract artist and my work is centered around my experiences with photographing water.
